Physically Active Together for Health (P.A.T.H.) walk
This is an appeal to get the word out to your school community (staff, students and families) about the upcoming Physically Active Together for Health (P.A.T.H.) walk. This is a major KPS event each year, and we want to continue to increase the number of participants!

Here are the details:
--Registration deadline is April 9th, and the walk will take place on April 26th.
--It is FREE, and includes a free t-shirt for all participants.
--Schools with the highest percent participation will be recognized and the overall winner will take home the traveling trophy.
--Register online by clicking the link under "Community Activities" tab on the KPS home web page, or pick up a paper registration from your school secretary.
Thanks for your support and help!

EMERSON'S STECHER TO BECOME BRAINARD SUPERINTENDENT
Sam Stecher, Emerson Elementary principal, will resign his position this year to become the Superintendent at East Butler Schools in Brainard, Nebraska. Stecher has worked for Kearney Public Schools for the past 17 years.
“I have been a part of Kearney since 1997,” said Stecher. “This community has provided me with the opportunity to earn two degrees, work in three school buildings, and serve thousands of students.”
Stecher began his career at Horizon Middle School as a Social Studies teacher from 1997-2008. He then moved to Kearney High School from 2008-2011 to serve as Dean of Students. From 2011 to the present, Stecher has served as the principal for Emerson Elementary. “I have shared these experiences with educators of unparalleled quality,” Stecher said. “I wouldn't be half the educator I am, without what this community has given me.”
